Our Therapeutic Approach

Our approach to psychology is rooted in a wholistic understanding of the human person. It is a relational approach, particularly informed by understanding our natural desire for love and connection.

When problematic emotional or relationship patterns develop, our interior peace, relationships with others, and ability to love and receive love are compromised.

We work with you to 1) deepen your understanding of how emotional and relationship patterns are maintained, and 2) to integrate your emotional and intellectual life in a way that leads to meaningful relationships and a life of purpose and joy.

Our Process

  • Initial Call

Meet a psychologist and discover if we are right for you.

  • 1st Appointment

Schedule your first conversation with your psychologist.

  • Care Plan

Establish treatment goals in your initial sessions.

  • Ongoing Care

    Flourish with ongoing therapy sessions.

Our Methods

  • Interpersonal therapy provides a model for 1) exploring cognitive, emotional, and relational patterns, 2) growing in understanding of problematic patterns, and 3) working collaboratively to achieve experiential change.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of psychotherapy that views the mind as made up of various subpersonalities or "parts," each with its own perspective and role. Through this approach individuals learn to understand, heal, and harmonize their parts leading to more self-awareness and integration.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a talk therapy approach that helps identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors.

  • Emotionally focused therapy helps couples to build strong, healthy relationships by exploring and changing negative communication patterns to enhance mutual understanding and closeness in the relationship.

  • Motivational interviewing is a patient-centered therapy style that helps people work toward desired change in their lives by exploring and resolving ambivalence.

  • All of our therapy approaches are trauma informed, meaning we take into account each person's trauma history and adjust therapy methods to fit their comfort level. We use informed consent throughout, check in on the therapeutic relationship, and find pacing that is right for each patient.

  • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a form of play therapy geared to kids ages 3-6 and their parents. Through this approach parents are trained by the therapist to engage in therapeutic play with their child, which helps to strengthen bonds as well as addresses behavior and impulse issues in young kids.

  • Emotion Coaching (EC) is a brief training provided in the context of family therapy that assists caregivers in connecting better and communicating more effectively with their children and teens. It is effective in families who are experiencing mental health struggles, trauma recovery, or want to strengthen connection.

  • Mindfulness practice and training is integrated into many of our therapy approaches. Mindfulness is the practice of being fully present and aware of thoughts, feelings and surroundings without judgment. It may involve meditative work and focusing on the breath to help promote acceptance of the here and now.
